Training Levels

RESPECT offer a number of course structures to suit your individual needs as an organisation or group.

We will arrange an initial meeting so you to tell us exactly the goals and aims you want to achieve from the training so that we can tailor the right course for you.

Below are two examples of the courses that we can offer you; but remember we offer many others including more advanced courses as well as shorter ones to refresh skills too. All of our training courses are designed for a maximum of 16 delegates.

 

1 day Introduction

Target group: Low risk services

This level of training covers the basic concept and principles of Positive Behaviour Support.  At this level we introduce the potential causes and function of behaviours of concern and some practical tools staff can use to support process of functional analysis. At this level, we also incorporate low level physical support and release techniques such as arm grab and strangle hold release.

2 day course Foundation Level

This level of training builds on the skills and knowledge of an Introduction level. The target profession is those working in low to medium risk settings. Physical Intervention and release techniques will be taught at this level alongside the theory of functional assessment and positive behaviour support.

4 day Foundation Plus

This level of training builds on the skills and knowledge of a 2 day Foundation level. The target profession is those working in medium to high risk settings. Advanced physical intervention and release techniques will be taught at this level alongside the theory of functional assessment and positive behaviour support.

Respect Train the Trainer

The train the trainer course allows services to create their own teams to train a Positive Behaviour Support training programme to their own direct care staff. Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be given all of the resources necessary to run and deliver a 2 day Foundation level. There is an annual update and re-registration fee for this level of training.

1 day Personal Safety and Conflict Resolution

Target group: Lone workers

If your organisation employs lone workers then they have a right to be protected in accordance with Health and Safety legislation. RESPECT training supports your ‘duty of care’ and provides practical steps to raise awareness of the importance of personal safety and guidance to make people feel safer and more confident.
